Cognitive Assessment (also referred to as cognitive debriefing or interviewing) is a qualitative method for assessing respondents’ interpretation of an assessment, using a small sample of patients. Results of the cognitive interview process are documented and can then be used to make decisions about any required changes to the structure of the item.
